David & Hamish Kilgour

First we have Hold on to the Rail from The Great Unwashed’s only (as far as I know) album, 1983’s Clean Out of Our Minds; which is comprised of super lo-fi home recordings the brothers made during the first few years of The Clean. If you’re ever fortunate to find this one in a record shop pick it up and cherish it (last I checked even a CD “Collection” of The Great Unwashed was upwards of $75USD).

Next we have Anything Could Happen from The Clean’s debut, the Boodle Boodle Boodle EP. Definitely one of my favorites from The Clean, and lately has been like my theme song for living. Anthology is a double CD/46 track overview of most of the groups early work and is a great place to start for anyone new to The Clean or the New Zealand music scene.

A last minute addition or two: The Great Unwashed, Small Girl and a track from David Kilgour’s 2004 release Frozen Orange, A Head Full of Rolling Stones.
